Local Government Purchasing Environment E-Module
If you are looking for an general understanding of the local government purchasing environment, or if you have already achieved Level 4 or above and wish to obtain the Local Government Certificate of Competence then this online training will be particularly helpful. It addresses four key areas directly relating to local government procurement:
- The world of government
- Procurement policy
- Procurement practice
- Your procurement process
You can buy this online training as a stand alone unit at a cost of £50+ VAT or alternatively you can take an online assessment, which will provide you with a certificate of completion for this Local Government Purchasing Environment unit for £50 + VAT.

The Local Government Certificate of Competence - What is it?
Aimed at those new to the procurement roles in local government, this course aims to offer you a good grounding in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management and helps you get to grips with working in the Public Sector.
The course is broken into 2 parts:-
- Stage 1 - The CIPS Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Purchasing & Supply
- Stage 2 - Local Government E-learning Module plus an assessed online test
By successfully completing both these elements, you will be awarded the Local Government Certificate of Competence.
This programme is supported and endorsed by both SOPO and IDEA.

CIPS Machinery of Government
CIPS is pleased to announce its latest online unit, as the CIPS Machinery of Government unit, which is an optional unit for the Level 5 CIPS Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply. The development of this unit was sponsored by the Office of Government Commerce, and is a unit which seeks to outline government policies and initiatives relating to procurement activity.
This unit has been designed through broad consultation within the public sector and is an indication of the importance of procurement to the governments Efficiency Agenda and Transforming Government initiative,
